痙性斜頚（頸部ジストニア）は、自分の意思と反して頭が勝手に動いてしまう原因不明の疾患です。一方、頭に針金のハンガーをかぶせると頭部が勝手に回ってしまう「ハンガー反射」という大変興味深い現象があります。われわれは、この現象を痙性斜頚の治療へ応用する研究を行っております。2012年度に多施設共同臨床研究を開始し、現在も継続中です。

Cervical dystonia is a disorder of unknown cause. On the other hand, when a wire clothes hanger is placed on the head, the head rotates unexpectedly. The curious phenomenon is called the “hanger reflex”. We used this reflex to treat cervical dystonia patients. A multicenter clinical study is ongoing for evaluating the clinical efficacy for the cervical dystonia from 2012.
